About Pause 4 Paws
Pause 4 Paws was established in 2011 with a mission of working to ensure that dogs and cats are treated with dignity and respect. Our Beneficiary Organizations have saved over 31,000 dogs and cats and spayed or neutered more than 21,000 animals. Pause 4 Paws (P4P) raises and distributes funds that support animal rescue programs’ efforts to:
- Provide medical care and spay/neuter clinics;
- Save lives by reducing animal euthanasia;
- Find "forever homes" for all dogs and cats; and
- Raise community awareness through public education and communication.
Pause 4 Paws supports 17 animal rescues and sanctuaries in Minnesota and a rescue in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Most animal rescues are small, volunteer-based community organizations that do not have staff available to spend time fundraising. P4P works on behalf of these organizations. To date, Pause 4 Paws has distributed over $350,000 to its Beneficiary Organizations.
100% of the funds we distribute through P4P go directly to the support and care of the animals.

Who We Are
Pause 4 Paws is an all-volunteer organization led by its Founder and Executive Director, Jill Goldstein. Our work is supported by a group of generous Sponsors who provide both financial donations and in-kind services. P4Ps efforts are guided by a Board of Directors that assists with development and marketing as well as the core operations of the organization.

In January 2010, a volunteer from Red Lake Rosie’s Rescue (RLRR) emailed our founder, Jill Goldstein, a picture of a dog that needed a home. Oliver had been abused and abandoned, living in a church parking lot for three months until RLRR rescued him. Jill adopted Oliver two weeks later and he became the first member of the P4P family.
Oliver has developed a special relationship with Jill's brother, who has special needs. Oliver is extremely protective of him and seeing Oliver brings Jill's brother great joy.
A few months later, Jill adopted Gizmo, a cat she found on RLRR’s website. Gizmo was in foster care and had health problems. She is a little cat with a big personality who behaves like a dog. Gizmo answers to her name, greets Jill at the door, loves to be held and wants to be the center of attention...always. Oliver and Gizmo are the best of friends and Jill calls them her “kids with fur.” Jill's P4P family continues to grow as she has adopted additional animals in need.
