Pause 4 Paws Board

Jill Goldstein, Executive Director & Founder

Jill Goldstein founded Pause 4 Paws and became its Executive Director in 2011. Creating this organization was a continuation of Jill's lifelong commitment to fundraising and volunteerism, modeled on the extensive work of her parents. Jill is an astute networker and advocate in the animal welfare community, guiding the organization through nearly 7 years of financial growth and giving. She was inspired to found P4P after she adopted her dog and cats from Red Lake Rosie’s Rescue and Second Chance Animal Rescue, and learned about the prevalence of euthanasia, over-population and abuse and neglect of animals.  In addition to her tireless volunteer efforts on behalf of Pause 4 Paws, Jill is the founder and owner of Goldstein Mediation, a divorce mediation firm located in Maple Grove, Minnesota. Jill has a B.A. in Criminal Justice and Psychology from the University of St. Thomas.

Andrea Burch, President

Andrea Burch joined the Pause 4 Paws Board in March of 2018. Andrea was elected President of the Board in February 2019.  She has also served as the organization's Treasurer. Andrea provides strategic advice to Jill Goldstein, P4P's Executive Director, and supports the planning and execution of Pause 4 Paws events throughout the year. Her interest in P4P began through a conversation with Jill -- she knew immediately that P4P was the gateway she was looking for to help rescue animals. When Andrea first started volunteering with P4P she had one "manimal", a cat named Chuck. Then she went to Mexico with P4P...and instead of bringing back a sweet tan, she ended up with a little Mexican kitty named Margarita (Rita for short). When Andrea is not cleaning litter boxes or lint rolling her clothes, she is working for Wells Fargo Securities as a sales representative. For fun, Andrea works part time serving up free beer samples around the Twin Cities for Excelsior Brewing Company.

Jennifer Ryan, Vice President

Jennifer Ryan joined the Pause 4 Paws board in August 2016 and served as the President in 2017 and 2018. She currently serves as Vice President of the Board and is involved in all aspects of the organization, with a focus on communications and strategic planning. Jennifer returned to Minnesota in 2016 after more than 20 years in the Washington, DC area and is thrilled to have the opportunity to support an important organization like P4P.  In her spare time, Jennifer serves as the Executive Vice President at Harbage Consulting, a national health care policy consulting firm focused on promoting access to health insurance coverage, particularly for low-income populations.  Previously, Jennifer served as the Director of Intergovernmental and External Affairs for the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), where she led the agency's stakeholder engagement work and developed the Medicaid.gov and InsureKidsNow.gov websites. Jennifer has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Communications from Gustavus Adolphus College.  She lives in Medina with her husband, Mark Geibig, their two sons and their 8-year old rescue dog, a beagle-mix named Riley Petunia Ryan Geibig.

Falen (Bonsett) Gottler, Media Relations (Emeritus Board Member)

Falen is the co-host of the Dave Ryan in the Morning show on 101.3 KDWB radio. She grew up on a farm in a small town in Southern Indiana surrounded by cattle, farm cats and farm dogs. Falen attended the University of Southern Indiana, where she found her love for radio. Falen volunteers her time hosting various charitable events in the Twin Cities. After hosting the 2014 Pause 4 Paws fundraiser, Falen volunteered to get more involved and wanted to help in any way possible. In addition to continuing to work the annual fundraiser, A Tail Wagging Affair, Falen supports P4P by generating new partnerships and facilitating free media promotion opportunities for the organization.  She currently lives in Minneapolis with her pleasantly plump kitty, Drew, her Pomeranian, Elliott.

David Goldstein, Corporate Fundraising

David is a seasoned fundraiser and has been actively involved with non-profit organizations since he was 21 years old, beginning with one of the world’s largest international service organizations, B-nai Brith. In 1973, David and his wife, Nancy, founded Homeward Bound, Inc. whose mission is to provide innovative, high quality services and supports to children and adults with disabilities and to help them lead fulfilling lives. Never officially retired, David remains actively involved in numerous non-profits and became active in the animal welfare community when he learned of the great need and horrific situations that existed in his own state of Minnesota. He works tirelessly to generate a strong pipeline of corporate sponsors and to generous contributors to support the work of Pause 4 Paws. An animal lover throughout his life, David has been owned by Penny, a bichon, and continues to open his home to his grand-dogs and grand-cats.

Nancy Goldstein, Corporate Fundraising

Nancy has over 40 years of fundraising experience, holding vital positions with Susan G. Komen’s Race for the Cure and establishing Homeward Bound, Inc. in order to provide an opportunity for her son and other children with special needs to live in their communities.  For over 40 years, Homeward Bound has served hundreds of children and adults living with disabilities and has grown from 1 location to 18 homes around the State of Minnesota.  Bottle feeding a litter of German Shepherds as a child generated Nancy’s commitment to the animal welfare cause.  When her daughter, Jill, founded Pause 4 Paws, Nancy saw the great need to help defenseless animals who have been exposed to abuse, abandonment and torture, and to address what can be extensive medical needs.  Nancy serves as a core member of the board and supports P4P through a wide range of volunteer activities.

She is also a 7 year breast cancer survivor. She mentions this last, so as to make it just a small piece of who she is.

Rachel Lien, Event Planning

Rachel Lien joined the Pause 4 Paws Board in January of 2019. She is involved in all aspects of fundraising, as well as event planning and execution for the organization. Rachel's interest in P4P began when she was looking for opportunities for her division at General Mills to get involved in the community. Through a conversation with founder, Jill Goldstein, she knew P4P was the right place to direct her passion for helping those who can't help themselves. Rachel has been married to her 5th grade crush, Erik, for five years and they have two beautiful daughters together (2 1/2-year old Peighton and 1-year old Charlee). They recently moved back to their hometown of Maple Grove to raise their family. When Rachel is not running around with her girls, she is enjoying the lake life up north, shopping for unnecessary things (or so her husband says), and planning events!

Madison Smith, Event Planning

Madison Smith joined Pause 4 Paws to help execute the Tail Wagging Affair in 2018. Madison fell in love with the organization and the amazing work they do, so could not help but want to continue working with P4P. Currently she is working as a Global Mobility Counselor helping people and families complete the relocation process for their employer. Madison got married on New Years Eve 2018 and recently bought a house in Champlin, MN.  She has always had a thing for party planning, and was looking for a way to put her marketing and social media experience to good use. Madison loves networking and making new connections with people that want to do something incredible for the world.
