Each year, approximately 733,000 cats and dogs are killed in our nation's shelters. You can help change that. An estimated 17 million people will add a new pet to their families each year. If more choose to adopt instead of buying one, we could reduce the number of animals killed in shelters significantly.
At Pause 4 Paws our mission is community based and our primary focus is to find and support traditional rescues to help prevent the loss of these precious animals. However, we do take dogs and cats into our care when there is no other option or we cannot secure a rescue outside of our organization.
At this time we have nearly 40 animals in our care who will be looking for their forever home. Some are ready for adoption and others are on their way, once their medical and/or behavioral issues are resolved. Reasons to adopt a pet:
You will save a life.
If you adopt an adult pet, there's a possibility you can avoid some of the hassles related to house-training and teething, which are associated with puppies and kittens. Of course, if you prefer a puppy or kitten, rescue groups and shelters have plenty of those available as well.
You'll save money because adoption costs less than buying an animal from a pet shop or breeder.
Perfectly "perfect" animals of all breeds, shapes, ages and sizes are available at shelters and rescue groups. Just because an animal ends up there doesn't mean there is anything wrong with them. They are just in need of a second chance.
You just might meet your best friend.
Looking to Adopt?
While we are technically not a rescue, we occasionally have animals (mainly cats) in foster care for various reasons. If you are interested in adopting one (or more!) of these cats, it is a requirement that you first complete the following pre-adoption application. We will review your application and get back to you as soon as possible.

They are a great place to start when looking to add a little fur to your family! Many also work with stores like Petco and PetSmart to bring animals to adoption events on a weekly basis.
